Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. (Bertrand Russell, Autobiography: "Prologue")

"forward passing rugby" hahahahaha I like that!!!!!
No - these Americans have emphasised the "traditions" of Liverpool FC and haven't left us in loads of debt. They seem "sound".
Problem is, Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars aren't used to winning multiple trophies like Liverpool................!! I am sure with their money they'll continue the winning streak!!
two days gone by, but i still can't get that sickening feeling out of me.
once again, it was at the hands of man utd, once again, it was from set piece, and once again it was stoppage time!
what a season it has been! we've lost to all the teams that we shouldn't: man utd, chelsea, arsenal, and even failed to beat everton, and not to mention the cup humiliations by arsenal! benitez was brought in to bring the league trophy back to anfield, but we ended up drifting further away from man utd and chelsea on the league table, while slipping off from arsenal in bringing up new young talents.
by this time next year, it will be 18 years since our last league championship, the same time span before arsenal's (in)famous last gasp win at anfield in 1989. since we've come all the way to follow their footsteps by not winning the league in 17 long years, the best emulation of the gunners would be for us to win the trophy at old trafford next season!
i know i'm dreaming. we can't even win at anfield!
where is that fortress?
Reading from letters and diaries, actors bring to life the Western missionaries, professors, and businessmen who risked their own lives daily to protect innocent Chinese from slaughter. Through these performances, Nanking unfolds as if the event is happening before our eyes.
At the heart of the film is John Rabe (Jürgen Prochnow), a German businessman who has been called the Oskar Schindler of China. A chief architect of the Safety Zone that rescued thousands in Nanking, Rabe stands bravely alongside Bob Wilson (Woody Harrelson), the only surgeon remaining to care for legions of victims, and Minnie Vautrin (Mariel Hemingway), an educator who passionately defends the lives and honor of Nanking's women.
These performances and others are interwoven with original interviews of Chinese survivors who tell their own stories in heartbreaking detail; with chilling archival footage of the events; and with testimonies of Japanese soldiers who participated in the rampage.
Bringing an event little-known outside of Asia to a global audience, "Nanking" shows the extraordinary impact individuals can make on the course of history. It is a gripping account of light in the darkest of times.
